Airport Transfers

Though Krakow’s Jan Pawel II airport at Balice is about 6 miles from the centre of town the ride isn’t an arduous one and there are a variety of means to make the journey.

A rental car service is available from the airport. Though with the superb public tranport links in Krakow, a private car is only really of use if you intend to spend lots of time away from the city.

The official taxi partner of the airport is Taxi 9191 and their taxi rank is located right outside the airport’s main terminal. Transfers into the city cost approx 50 Złoty (about £9 or $15) and take twenty or so minutes.

Alternatively you can walk to the right of the terminal, where you will find the local and express bus stops.

There are a variety of services into Krakow but we would recommend Service 192 as within about 45 minutes this will deliver you to Teatr Bagatela which is a very short walk from
Krupnicza 247. The route also offers a relatively scenic introduction to Krakow.
Timetables for Service 192 can be found here....

Service 208 and the express X08 also run into the city but stop at the main bus station which is on the opposite side of the old town from Krupnicza 247.

As with all public transport in Krakow its cheaper to buy tickets before you board and the best place to buy tickets is at the shop within the airport. You will need Polish Zloty for the tickets.

If you wait until you are in Krakow to change your currency you should find you get much better rates, as there can be significant difference in the exchange rates offered by different 'Kantors'.

We suggest that you only change a small amount of money, no more than £15 at the airport and then find the best daily rate in Krakow's old town.
